FRESH from his recent graft acquittal triumph – notwithstanding that the Attorney-General’s Chamber (AGC) has filed an appeal over the case – UMNO president Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi has swiftly returned to the drawing board to debunk the so-called myths of the Opposition’s monsoon-cum-flood narratives.
As the beat of the war gong gets louder, the Bagan Datuk MP has claimed that the Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) coalition “is nearing a dead end and has no choice but to buy more time” to delay the holding of the 15th General Election (GE15).
Citing sources of the MalaysiaNow news portal, Zahid said leaders of the PH coalition were told to raise issues such as flood disaster and rising inflation as a measure to prevent the dissolution of the Parliament in the immediate future.
“The portal even stated that several think tanks were assigned to conduct research into voter sentiments towards PH and invited to present their findings,” the former deputy prime minister and home minister penned on his Facebook page.
“Based on their data presentation from a separate survey, the main finding is that the Malay support for PH is at its lowest level. The survey even indicated that PH will not get more than 15% of Malay votes in GE15 if voting is held in the near future.”
“In other words, the GE15 outcome will not favour PH as Malay votes will shift due to the recovery and revival of UMNO,” added Zahid.
He also lambasted the Opposition for not presenting facts about the flood and strategies to render assistance to the victims when the floods hit.
“They don’t even outline a strategy to help Malaysia deal with inflation which is now affecting the whole world,” lamented Zahid. “On the contrary, the opposition is more interested in devising a strategy to win GE15 than thinking about the bigger problems encountered by Malaysians at large.”
While that portrayed the real attitude of the opposition, Zahid also took a swipe at BN coalition members who sang to the tune of the opposition.
“The strange thing is that there are UMNO allies who are still deceived by the opposition. Or that they actually have their own motives to postpone the general election before the monsoon season starts,’ he observed.
Zahid added that he will detail out more on the myths and narratives of UMNO’s political enemies in the near future. – Sept 27, 2022
