UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has described the latest antic of political rival and his Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as a grand betrayal by someone whose political career he once helped to elevate to the highest level.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman further expressed regret at how the former prime minister for 17 months following the “Sheraton Move” defection which led to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government has deviated far from UMNO’s sacred struggle for religion, race and homeland.
“This stems from his own dissatisfaction and greed of wanting more than what he had enjoyed while with UMNO,” lamented Zahid in his latest Facebook post.
“Imagine the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman who is also the Bersatu president wants to publicly ‘drown’ UMNO’ in the Muar River. UMNO’s more than 3.39 million members, especially in Pagoh (Muhyiddin’s constituency), need not feel sad to witness this continuous betrayal.”
Even though the PN chairman/Bersatu president still carries a sorrowful narrative that he was supposedly fired from UMNO because of the 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Bhd) issue, Zahid revealed that the incumbent Pagoh MP was in fact “.fired by the UMNO supreme council in 2016 for campaigning on behalf of the party’s enemies”.
“Will any political party let its members or leaders campaign for their enemies?” asked Zahid.
On the same note, the Bagan Datuk MP also took a swipe at Masjid Tanah’s Bersatu-PN candidate Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin also once supported Muhyiddin’s dismissal from UMNO.
“When she was the leader of Puteri UMNO, Mas Ermieyati even insisted that the dismissal should be done earlier. But unfortunately, she also betrayed UMNO by becoming a ‘political frog’ after GE14 (the 14th General Election),” recalled Zahid.
“It is okay for leaders to come and go but UMNO continues to fight based on the loyalty of millions of its grassroots supporters.”
He also reminded all UMNO members to leverage Nov 19 as a platform to ensure an absolute revival of UMNO/BN.
“Show the traitors and enemies that UMNO is a party with a sincere struggle. The Pagoh electorate should make sure that #PerikatanNasional #Bersatu get ‘wash away’ in Sungai Muar (Muar River) during GE15,” rallied Zahid.
