Muhyiddin: “We are ready to form new government”

PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced that his coalition has enough numbers to form the new government with 73 seats as of 3.10am (PN won 51 seats while PAS won 22).

“We have received a letter from Istana Negara with specific instructions on the requirements we need to fulfil according to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” the former prime minister was quoted as saying at a press conference by FMT.

“We will have a meeting tomorrow and hope to have an answer by the evening. We will have to comply with Istana Negara’s instructions.”

According to the Election Commission (EC) website, Pakatan has 75 seats while Barisan Nasional has 30 seats, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) 22, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) six, DAP five, Warisan three, and Muda and Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) one each. Two independents have also won seats.

The winners of all 220 seats have yet to be finalised.

Muhyiddin further announced that his coalition is ready to work with any party to form a government that is “clean, stable and caring” and said that these parties have to be aligned with the coalition’s principles.

However, he insisted that PN would not work with PH. – Nov 20, 2022
