Muhyiddin’s “anti-kleptocrat stance” defies logic, Hanipa retorts

SEPANG MP Hanipa Maidin has taken to Facebook to criticise outgoing Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for his inconsistent stand on fighting ‘kleptocrats’.

Hanipa referred to Muhyiddin’s days as Umnos number two, whereby he was sacked as Deputy Prime Minister because of his uncompromising stance against ‘kleptocrats’ in the party.

Yet the Pagoh MP had no qualms about forming alliances with them when he launched a coup against the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Government in 2020.

“In fact he had gone as far as to appoint one such person – Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob – as his second in command,” said Hanipa, who is also an AMANAH central committee member.

“Now he and his fellow MPs can even support a prime ministerial candidate who has no problems perpetuating the kleptocratic government. May I know what kind of logic is that?”

Hanipa further questioned the sort of message the country is sending to the rest of the world if the same government responsible for overthrowing the democratically elected PH Government is reappointed.

The Muhyiddin-led Perikatan Nasional (PN) Government came to power in 2020 after Muhyiddin pulled his party out of the PH Government in February that year. – Aug 19, 2021.
