Mujahid believes PH can wrestle Sungai Bakap seat from PN

AMANAH deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa said he is of the view that Pakatan Harapan (PH) could wrestle the Sungai Bakap seat from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the upcoming by-election (PRK).

He said the influence of Pakatan Harapan is strong in the constituency after it won the seat for three terms, saying this will provide a bright opportunity for the unity government candidate to seize back the seat recently captured by PN.

Mujahid also said that the influence is enough to be judged by the people who feel the benefits of the PH administration.

He further expressed confidence that the momentum of PH’s victory, which started with several by-elections until Kuala Kubu Bharu may repeat itself in Sungai Bakap.

“The potential for PH to seize back the seat is very bright, very high, in fact the seat will be the beginning of ‘breaking’ the PN wave in the last general election.

“I also believe that Sungai Bakap can break the wave of PN based on the achievements we have achieved throughout being the government.”

Meanwhile, former PH candidate for the Sungai Bakap state assembly seat Nurhidayah Che Rose expressed her readiness to fight for another chance to contest this time again.

Nurhidayah, 33, mentioned that based on the seat distribution in the last 15th state election (PRN), Sungai Bakap was designated for female candidates from the PH coalition.

“God willing, I am ready if given the opportunity to contest again representing PH-BN. It will be an opportunity for me to make up for my narrow defeat in the 15th PRN last year.

The PRK will be held following the death of PAS representative Nor Zamri Latiff on May 24. – June 1, 2024
