FOR many Muslims, there is a deep-seated fear of dogs.
This is perfectly understandable as most do not have them as pets or have the opportunity to work with these canines.
But things got a bit overboard when certain netizens called for a boycott of a Muslim-owner restaurant.
The crime? The lady boss was “guilty” of feeding stray dogs to which some ultra-conservative netizens took exception to.
The issue has gone viral with many rallying to her support. X user Yumi saying that the Chinese community would come to this makcik’s aid.
The owner of Restoran Salai Star located in Johor Bahru was also praised by Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid (@syerleena) on X, claiming that it was an act of kindness and it was not haram to feed these strays.
In a short clip, she reminded netizens that dogs, too, were God’s creatures and should be treated humanely and with tenderness.

Many netizens came out in support of the owner of Restoran Salai Star, saying her good deeds would be rewarded.
More than one reiterated that there was nothing wrong in feeding these strays as it shows compassion.
Quite a number openly questioned the motives of those calling for a boycott, highlighting the sheer hypocrisy of this. There were plenty more issues that seem to be ignored by these holier-than-thou types.
However, there was one who did not agree with the feeding of strays, saying it will lead to more problems.
While praising the acts of kindness, one netizen highlighted that the best solution would be controlling the stray dog population by neutering them.
One commenter pointed out that the lady owner also sold cat food and – although not a veterinarian per se – also sold “traditional” medicine for felines! It does underline that this lady is indeed a true animal lover.
All said and done, many Muslim netizens came out in support of the owner of Restoran Salai Star, saying she would receive God’s grace for her acts of kindness.
It would appear that this wonderfully kind lady is already reaping the rewards of her kindness.
