MYEG Philippines rolls out Covid-19 contact tracing, profiling app

KUALA LUMPUR: MY E.G. Services Bhd’s (MYEG) joint venture, MYEG Philippines Inc, today launched a contact tracing and digital health profiling smartphone app known as MyEGuard, which enables authorities to carry out contact tracing to help contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

It said MYEG Philippines had begun pilot implementation of MyEGuard in Paranaque City, Kidapawan City and Ilagan City.

The roll-out of MyEGuard would enable city authorities to carry out much-needed contact tracing at a critical juncture in the efforts to contain the pandemic, not only in the Philippines but also globally, the e-government service provider announced to Bursa Malaysia today.

The system was jointly developed in Malaysia by MYEG and S5 Systems Sdn Bhd, an information technology and security consultant.

In addition to contact tracing, residents of the participating Philippine cities will be assigned a dynamic coloured QR code, which serves as an indicator of their health status and level of risk of being infected with the virus.

According to MYEG, the data powering the health code are continuously updated in real-time with readings from temperature checkpoints set up across various strategic locations that residents pass through as well as with contact tracing information.

“We will continually improve our system to make our app more efficient and effective overtime. We expect to onboard several more cities in the coming weeks once the pilot trials are successful,” said MYEG Philippines CEO Ann Saldana.

MyEGuard marks the latest innovation introduced by MYEG Philippines as it continues to strengthen its position as the country’s leading e-government solutions provider.

MYEG Philippines also operates other digital services, including the National Bureau of Investigation online clearance and renewals and e-payments in partnership with Land Bank of the Philippines, as well as the provision of online financial offerings such as insurance and loans. – April 28, 2020, Bernama
