THE Malaysia Internet Exchange (MyIX) recently launched and concluded its highly anticipated network infrastructure training course at its headquarters in Puchong, Selangor.
A cornerstone of MyIX’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, this initiative is aimed at equipping Malaysian talent with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the digital economy.
Out of hundreds of applicants, 25 participants were selected to participate in the “Explore the World of Network Infrastructure” course for the first intake.
The training programme marked a significant milestone in the association’s on-going efforts to train and develop Malaysia’s workforce, according to MyIX treasurer Ong Cheok Seong (main image, left).
“We are deeply committed to empowering Malaysians with the skills and knowledge to thrive in the digital age. This is just the beginning and we look forward to hosting more sessions in the future to benefit more individuals,” Ong pointed out.
In collaboration with Forward College, the training programme covers essential topics, including IP network and systems operations, routing, BGP, RPKI, ROA, AS-SET, and peering. Participants will gain hands-on experience with DNS, DNSSEC, traffic monitoring and analysis, NMS and DDoS prevention strategies.
Designed for recent graduates and professionals from local companies, the training programme is intended to equip individuals with the necessary skills to effectively manage and optimise network infrastructure, thus ensuring robust, secure and efficient internet connectivity.
Meanwhile, Forward College co-founder and CEO Howie Chang said the overwhelming response from applications serve as indication of the programme’s importance and the demand for such education in Malaysia’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
“Working alongside MyIX allows us to contribute meaningfully to the development of Malaysia’s digital infrastructure talent,” he noted. “This programme not only equips participants with theoretical knowledge but also practical skills that are immediately applicable in the workforce.”
A pivotal player in Malaysia’s digital landscape, MyIX operates as the primary hub for internet traffic exchange in the country. Established to enhance the country’s internet speed, reliability and security, MyIX continues to play a crucial role in supporting Malaysia’s digital economy through initiatives like this training programme.
