Najib: Do something, workplace COVID-19 clusters are spiking

WITH COVID-19 infections unabating despite a “total lockdown”, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak urged the Government to pay attention to the soaring number of workplace clusters.

“Yesterday, the Health Ministry (MOH) reported 24 new clusters, of which 17 of them are workplace related. Day before yesterday, it was 23 clusters, with 12 of them being workplace related.

“Most of the clusters are concentrated at workplaces but the propaganda going around is blaming the people for failing to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 standard operating procedure (SOP),” he said, in a Facebook post.

Despite announcing a total lockdown to contain the pandemic, the International Trade and Industries Ministry (Miti) approved over 128,000 companies to operate as usual, triggering public anger.

Netizens later started an online petition calling for its senior minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s sacking, which garnered over 100,000 signatures.

On that note, Najib cautioned the Government on the number of active clusters, which has shot up to an alarming 701.

He added: “And the number of active clusters in not a small figure.”- June 6, 2021.
