Najib: What have you done this time on relations between parties, Khalid?

BEHIND bars, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is still influential and this time he may have made another crucial quote, asking Amanah’s Khalid Abdul Samad in Malay, “Lid, apa lagi yang kamu buat kali ini?

Najib accompanied the post with a photo of news reports in which Khalid tells Kelantan UMNO  there is no need to talk about breaking up relationships in his comments about Najib’s appeal for a royal pardon.

The news article explains that the Amanah communications director told Kelantan UMNO that his party took a different but respectful stance with regards to UMNO’s asking for the King’s consideration in Najib’s pardon request.

The post attracted many comments and likes.

Facebook user Roslan Maarof said:

The English translation says, “If you want to compare Najib with Khalid, it’s like heaven and earth.. not only in terms of service, knowledge and character (morality) but also in terms of leadership, Khalid is far behind!!!!”

Others asked Najib not to take Khalid’s comments seriously because he is no longer an MP and is a simple member of the Amanah party, which is in coalition with UMNO in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s government.

User Rampen Him said:

“Amanah should not do something like that (asking the King not to pardon Najib). It is correct that UMNO Kelantan cut ties with Amanah because the party is stabbing UMNO in the back.”

Some Umno supporters are asking for the extreme. It seems some take the request for Najib’s pardon very seriously.

Moreover, user Bahaldin Mustapha said:

“Severing ties with Amanah is the best way if UMNO makes a decision about (Khalid’s comments) because Amanah is not self-aware,” he said.

Najib was actually responding to Khalid’s statement that the King should not pardon the latter.

Kelantan UMNO has asked Khalid for an apology, which has not come. However, UMNO leader and Deputy PM Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has downplayed both Kelantan UMNO’s call and Khalid’s statement. — April 30, 2023
