PAS has called on its members to join UMNO in a “Solidarity with Najib Razak” rally on Jan 6 outside the Palace of Justice, Putrajaya. The rally coincides with the Court of Appeal hearing on an alleged royal addendum allowing former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve his remaining prison sentence under house arrest.
An internal memo from PAS, which has gone viral on social media, showed that PAS has called on its members to join the solidarity rally.
This came while veteran UMNO secretary-general Datuk Mustapha Yaakub opined that Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh Tseow Suan should resign or be removed from the Cabinet by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He stated that Yeoh’s loss in her defamation lawsuit against former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan has tarnished the credibility and integrity of the Madani government.
According to him, the case is comparable to the 1963 defamation suit filed by former health minister Abdul Rahman Talib against opposition MP Darma Raja Seenivasagam, in which Abdul Rahman also lost.
Meanwhile, Federal Territories UMNO leader Gulam Muszaffar urged party members to support Najib, emphasising unity and loyalty to the former prime minister
