“Name the backstabber and be fair,” Tajuddin tells Tengku Razaleigh

DATUK Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has urged Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah to be fair towards UMNO members who had filed appeals against disciplinary actions taken against them.

The former Pasir Salak MP said Tengku Razaleigh should not make statements about individuals whom he had called “backstabbers” if he did not want to name them.

“Who is the enemy? Name them, and be fair. You issued a general statement without naming anyone, is that good?” Tajuddin was quoted as saying by FMT.

On Saturday (June 10), Tengku Razaleigh, also known as Ku Li, told FMT in an interview that it would be disastrous to accept backstabbers back into UMNO simply because of the forthcoming state polls.

At the same time, the former Ulu Kelantan Barat assemblyman also voiced out his concern that UMNO will be destroyed if it does not stand firm in upholding discipline, despite demands that the party leadership accept former members or retract its punishment.

Tengku Razaleigh, according to Tajuddin, ought to provide the party’s leadership with solid advice if he desires to strengthen UMNO.

“If he gave the right advice, UMNO would not be facing this problem. Is he giving the right advice or is he just an ‘adviser’ in name?” Tajuddin asked.

Meanwhile, Tajuddin who is also a former Kampong Gajah assemblyman urged UMNO leaders to make a ruling concerning three appeals he had filed, the latest of which was in March, which he said still received no answer.

The former Prasarana chairman was suspended last October by UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi following criticisms against his leadership.

Zahid said UMNO is open to calls to get sacked members to return to the party at the UMNO General Assembly on Saturday (June 10).

The Bagan Datuk MP pointed out that the supreme council and disciplinary board handled disciplinary issues involving party members carefully.

“We are open to this suggestion. We hope that those who have been sacked or suspended are those who are genuinely party men and not a ‘thorn in the flesh’,” Zahid had said. – June 13, 2023
