NATO allies face pressure to raise defence spending, US pushes for 5% GDP target

NATO defence ministers have gathered in Brussels to discuss boosting military spending and increasing support for Ukraine.

The United States is pressing allies to commit five percent of their GDP to defence – a sharp increase from the previous 2% benchmark.

The push comes amid growing security concerns in Europe and renewed calls for long-term strategic readiness.
