Netizen rants about unappreciative Malays complaining about their own country; legit or just overprivileged?

WE Malaysians love to complain about things and one of them is our own country. The result is a sizable brain drain to neighbouring Singapore, or even to Australia, and that is just the start.

Recently, a netizen ranted in a video, pointing out the Malays who complained about their own country.

According to him, the Malays which he deemed to be in the privileged category shouldn’t be complaining about the country’s problems since they are the problem.

If this is true, then why are there a sizable number or Malays in the B40 category? Perhaps the issue is far more complex compared to all that broad brushing in the video.

Regardless, the comments from our fellow netizens are equally illuminating. According to @lil_nabil_, people who travel often will realise there is no place like Malaysia.

“You won’t get randomly shot like in the US. You don’t have the work culture like Japan,” he said, adding that if people are bored of the Malay cuisine, just go for the Chinese and Indian cuisines instead.

Another netizen by the name of @snh7710 said leaving Malaysia gives a change of scenery, not necessarily a solution. “Sometimes we only realise the value of peace, safety, and what we have when we truly reflect. No need to travel far, even YouTube can open our eyes. Gratitude begins at home,” he added.

Some even pointed out that people are actually migrating from America, the so called no 1 country in the world, to other places.

Also, @camancher2012 said it is ironic that some western even Asian youtubers are promoting Kuala Lumpur as the best city to live in Asia and the world.

“Many also doing consultations businesses to help people to migrate to Malaysia. So satisfying to watch their vlogs and viewers’ comments,” he said.

On another note, the video above was made by a Malay, Iqbal Fatkhi, who is currently the editor of Cilisos Media. That said, we can’t really call it racism when it is a Malay criticising the Malays right?—Sept 30, 2025
