IT is good to have a hobby. But when a hobby turns into an obsession, even the most benign hobby may turn ugly.
Recently, the cyberspace has been abuzz about the Yamaha RX-Z bike and the unhealthy obsession that Malaysians are developing towards it.
In a video posted on X, netizen Amran Fans pointed out how people are carrying a Yamaha RX-Z catalyser about, which was akin to religious rapture.
Amran Fans added that if this is not contained, it could possibly turn into a new religion, the religion of RX-Z.

Captions within the video informed that the bike was sold for about RM145k, well above the average vehicle.
Amran fans opinion was further echoed by the many netizens who were drawn to the video post.
Netizen Haizie Ismail claimed that this is the new idol.
Another netizen said only in Malaysia the people are obsessed with this metal horse.
Then here is an interesting photo comment from one netizen.
“When told to go to the mosque, they were lazy,” said Benci kemungkaran.
But is the RX-Z truly worthy of praise and adoration? According to Wikipedia, RX-Z was one of the motorcycle models often associated with Mat Rempits.
Many Malay movies including Remp-It use the RX-Z in their movies. The RX-Z is very popular now in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, with prices skyrocketing in Malaysia as of 2020, with one being sold at RM70,000 due to its rarity and all original NOS Yamaha Genuine parts.
Looking at the procession, one can imagine why it should appeal to a common Mat Rempit.
We suppose it shouldn’t come as a surprise if some of them have taken to worshipping it in secret in their garage, now with the astronomical price associated with its rarity.
On a separate note, how does a Mat Rempit envision the afterlife? Is it an endless highway that accommodates the most daring stunt a Mat Rempit could conceptualise?
