Netizens chide PAS-PN for renewed talk of ‘tebuk atap’

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan expressed his confidence last week that Perikatan Nasional (PN) can take over the government shortly.

He pointed out that the leadership of the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) coalition government has failed to address the people’s concerns and this is the basis why PN and PAS, indeed, will be in power soon.

These comments made waves on the internet with users on Facebook and X platform weighing in. This is what they have to say to the PAS sec-gen.

(I don’t quite understand why they can’t move on. The King has made it clear, even the Malay rulers have said that there should be unity. Do these people still want to seize power? Loser mentality! They still want to act foolish, even though they preach Islam. There’s no Muslim that behaves like them!)

Another user made it clear what he felt during the reign of the PN-PAS before the PH-BN took power last year. The user meant to ask the PAS sec-gen whether his government back then could deal with the issues that were plaguing the country.

(It’s as if we had no experience and sense of what PN was like as a government. At that time PN managed to deal with the people’s issues? What else with the country’s issues?)

(Gentlemen of PAS, I’m sorry to say this: Don’t waste your time and energy thinking about being in government to replace PH-BN. Gentlemen, be an effective Opposition until the next general election. Let PH-BN be the government (even when they are also disgraceful) but PN should be the great Opposition.)

Meanwhile, UMNO leader has poured scorn on PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man for recently claiming that the Islamist party will once again be part of the federal government “soon”.

Calling PAS “arrogant” and “greedy”, UMNO supreme council leader Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi accused the party of going against Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree for political stability in the country.

“The PAS vice president said the party will soon get the opportunity to lead the federal government, and what he means is that the unity government will fall,” Puad said in a statement on Facebook on Thursday (Oct 19).

“How is that going to happen? This must be via the back door (tebuk atap) or Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) retracting their support (for the unity government).” – Oct 21, 2023
