Netizens cry foul “Where are our Gobind, Bee Yin and Dr Dzul?”

Editor’s Note: Former communications and multimedia minister Gobind Singh Deo has admitted that he had declined to be part of the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim Cabinet because he wants to focus on his current role as Damansara MP.

The DAP deputy chairman also clarified that Anwar “did ask me to be part of his Cabinet”.

IF netizens had their way with Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Cabinet selection – the very fact that the latter had recycled some ‘warlord’ old-timers or simply putting old wine in new bottle – then three of their best bets are Gobind Singh Deo, Yeo Bee Yin and Dr Dzulkifli Ismail.

The three names were trending on Twitter this morning following the unveiling of the Anwar’s unprecedented unity government Cabinet which took the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman more than a week – eight days to be precise – to put together.

For the uninitiated, Gobind was the former communications and multimedia minister in PH’s short-lived administration while Bee Yin was the energy, science, technology, environment and climate change minister with Dr Dzulkifli served as the health minister.

Though the trio do not seem to be as popular as newly minted Deputy Prime Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Twitter – his name has been tweeted more than 98,700 times – netizens still have high regards for them to hold a cabinet post.

Insofar as Gobind and Bee Yin are concerned, netizens are taken aback as to why DAP Perak chief Nga Kor Ming who is deemed a controversial leader (although less ‘ruthless’ than Hew Kuan Yew a.k.a. Superman Hew) is accorded the Local Government portfolio when both Gobind and Bee Yin had boasted good track record during their 22-month service previously.

However, in the case of Bee Yin, netizen KokoCat shared that she herself could have rejected any ministership to ward off controversies.

Recall that on Nov 6, the Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4 Centre) has raised red flags on Bee Yin’s status as an aspirant MP for the Puchong parliamentary seat given that she is the spouse of IOI Properties Group Bhd CEO Lee Yeow Seng (son of IOI Group Bhd’s founder, the late Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng).
