Netizens defend PMX over dismissive comments from Sanusi on UNGA-78

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim seems to have captured the hearts of many netizens on X who expressed their support for his United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) speech, but the same can’t be said for Kedah Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor who called the speech bland.

Sanusi criticised Anwar, saying the PM’s appearance at the 78th (UNGA) in New York was bland and failed to capture world leaders’ attention.

“The difference is that when PM9 spoke to a crowd but when PM10 spoke at the UNGA, there were no people.. there was only the Malaysian delegation.

“Why is there no one? Because even outsiders know that he is a strong liar, it is better to come out than listen. As Malaysians, we should be ashamed because when he speaks at the UNGA, people don’t want to listen,” said the Kedah MB.

Sanusi made these remarks during a campaign speech for the Pelangai state legislative assembly (DUN) by-election in Bentong.

However, many on the X platform do not share the same sentiments that Sanusi has towards PM Anwar.

(Enough, stop being envious Sanusi. Just accept the reality. The person you call a sodomite can receive an invitation to deliver a sermon in New York, while your leader whom you refer to as an Islamic scholar, can’t even enter Mecca. Allah has shown His guidance even there.)

Oddly enough, Indonesians are touched that our PM showed a lot of grace while overseas.

(We, Indonesians, are impressed by Anwar’s statement on the issues raised. Anwar met with many world figures, corporate and intellectual.)

There were some who relayed some advice to the Kedah MB.

(Be kind,  Sanusi. Do not underestimate the efforts of your Muslim brothers in doing good. Remember that the voice that comes out of your mouth is a gift from Allah, use it to say good things and not to mock others even if they are against you.)

Some gave Anwar a low grade for his UNGA speech. They are from the opposition. Take this Twitter account MBI:

(Anwar should revise his speech or find a better writer.) – Sept 24, 2023
