Netizens in awe after King gifts Proton X90 to IGP and others

THE Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has gifted a Proton X90 type vehicle to the Inspector-General Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and National Palace religious officer Datuk Munir Md Salleh.

Sultan Ibrahim also gifted the same vehicle to Istana Negara Datuk Paduka Maharaja Lela Datuk Azuan Effendy Zairakithnnaini, former Istana Negara Datuk Pengeloy Bijaya Major General Datuk Indera Zahari Mohd Ariffin and Colonel (R) Datuk Nazim Mohd Alim.

In a post on Facebook yesterday (March 8), the YDPA announced the gifting of the vehicles in recognition of the contribution and excellent service of the parties involved.

This has the internet buzzing with praise for the King whom the people see as a generous monarch.

On March 1, reports surfaced about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim riding in a brand-new Mercedes Benz. This is after Anwar rejected the use of a recently purchased Mercedes-Benz S600 limousine as his official car in November 2022.

15 months down the road, Malay-language daily Utusan Malaysia has set Malaysian cyberspace abuzz with a revelation of Anwar being chauffeured in a black Mercedes Benz with the registration number VEV 1158.

Meanwhile, on Facebook, netizens are saying their prayers for the good health and well-being of the King of Malaysia after reading that he gifted the cars to the officials.

Others are sending their congratulatory remarks to the officers who received the gifts, saying they worked hard in their employment and now they are enjoying the fruits of their labour.

Not everyone is happy with the story, though as some netizens said the people are suffering and the King should also look into the economic issues involved.

Another user said bluntly that the rich are getting richer with gifts while the people are suffering. – March 9, 2024
