Netizens see minimal impact from PH’s rap song to court young Kelantanese voters

NETIZENS are left unconvinced how Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) is able to make inroads into Kelantan during the upcoming state polls after Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad shared on his Twitter account a rap-style song rallying young voters to change political leadership in the state.

As a young Kelantanese who voted for PH, netizen harapan (@aideedddd) expects the music clip to have very minimal impact in terms of influencing Kelantanese who voted for PAS or Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties to change their voting trend.

“The PH election machinery has to start entering villages and give non-stop information about the government’s efforts (to bring about changes),” he told Nik Nazmi who is also the PKR vice-president.

Netizen Oreo Koshka (@oreo_koshka27) emphasised the need for physical engagement in rural and sub-urban areas.

“These groups are less exposed to the current initiatives by the government or other political parties other than PAS. They only see Isle (PAS ideology) as their choice in life.”

Yen (@niksyahrin) concurred but stated that even though “one got to the gate only to be chased away by old folks and their extreme disciples, one still has to persevere if one intends to win (the election).”

Psalm 131 (@Psalm131Psalm1) suggested that Nik Nazmi should open the eyes of PAS supporters and loyalists that neither PAS nor PN fight for Islam as it claimed to have done.

“Examples include the RUU 355 (the controversial Shariah Courts [Criminal Jurisdiction] [Amendment] Bill) which the party fought for but was ignored when PAS/PN came to power, buying a Mercedes, the Jana Wibawa scandal or giving money to their own families/cronies when the poor do not have enough food/clean water.”

Netizen The Teh Original (@TheTehOriginal) mooted the idea of “hiring famous influencer for each state constituency”.

“But do learn from past mistakes. Make sure the influencers don’t get attracted to the other side. Otherwise, this can be a costly mistake.”

This was seconded by Hmmmmphh (@iPapanKekunci) who reckoned that the unity government must first be smart by “choosing the right bait”.

“Just implement one project in one chosen district till other districts, too, will get fascinated.  But the project must be impactful and needed by all districts,” added the netizen. – April 28, 2023
