FOR the Malays, Hari Raya is ushered in with the bang of the bamboo cannons or the pop of firecrackers, big or small.
But this year, however, it would seem like Hari Raya is getting the mother of all fireworks. Even the Chinese who incorporated all that gunpowder into their culture will bow down to this one.
Recently, netizen @_IskandarDanial recorded a huge flame that reached into the stratosphere, scorching the sky. It could even be seen from many miles away.
Tadi wife aku sempat rakam kejadian di mana kitorang lalu sebelah api besar gila pukul 8.20am sewaktu nak otw balik kampung. Anyone tahu punca apa ? Mengerikan wei bila lalu sebelah tu, memang dalam mereta pon terasa bahang panas. Dan risau juga kot kalau meletop api lagi besar. pic.twitter.com/cPuNPyI4L9

Captions in the video revealed his position at the Elite Highway at about 8.20 am. Anyone could have mistaken it for a fire bomb dropped by a rival nation.
Several netizens have since shared their experience through the video they recorded:
Netizen @__aisyxh said people passing through the Elite Highway may consider other alternatives as it appears that the police have started to close the road.
According to news portal Malay Mail, the fire was caused by a gas pipeline in Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights.
It occurred nearby a residential area, prompting evacuations. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar claimed the fire involved a leaking Petronas gas pipeline, with an estimated 500 metres of the pipeline engulfed in flames.
“It looks like the residents’ houses there are badly damaged because they were gutted by the fire. If this is the case, will Petronas pay compensation?” said @kakakezza.
Firefighters from multiple stations, including Subang Jaya, Puchong, Shah Alam, Bukit Jelutong, Cyberjaya, Rawang, Klang Selatan, Klang Utara, and Damansara, were deployed. —Apr 1, 2025
