IT IS the start of 2025 and employees are anticipating a bonus, if not a raise this coming January. So here comes the unavoidable question of how much bonus did you get from your company?
If you are a lucky employee of Evergreen Marine Corp, then the answer is a whopping 20 months bonus, which is an impressive amount considering the current market rate.

According to Oh Media, the Taiwanese company decided to give such a generous payment due to its increasing performance for the year 2024.
Evergreen Marine Corp is no stranger to the limelight, having given a 52 months bonus to its employees in 2022. This makes it the largest reward at that time for the shipping industry.
Prompted by the huge bonus, several netizen inquired about applying to the company.
Ata Shinchi pointed out that their office was situated at the huge ports, such as the one at Port Klang.
According to netizen Mr. Mama22, it is not unusual for shipping companies to give good bonus or pay raises, and that the best are those in Arabian countries.
However, Mr. Mama22 claimed that the 20 months bonus is not given to each worker, but the total is divided to every worker as an average. Therefore, each worker gets about six to seven months.
“In my entire life of working for 34 years, I only get a seven bonus three times. Now, I am not even sure of getting the vitamin B,” he said.
Muller also advised the youngsters to find their fortune in aviation and aerospace companies, where they might be able to get a three to five months bonus.
A pessimistic Syafiq Safwan, however, said the 20 months bonus is exclusive for a staff who fulfills four of the criterias he listed below:
1/ Senior management and above
2/ Stationed in the head quarters
3/ Achieved a KPI of A+++
4/ Don’t do work but always looked busy
One netizen helpfully provided a bonus scale for Malaysia, which is the standard that most Malaysians receive.
She added that people rarely get four to six months worth of bonus, or 12 to 13 months for that matter.
On the other hand, there are great deal of Malaysians out there who have yet to receive a raise the past two years.
