Netizens urge Selangor ruler not to accept Kedah MB’s apology, let court teach him a ‘kaw-kaw’ lesson

SUCH is the reaction by mostly Madani government backers to Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor seeking apology from Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah over his insulting and disrespectful statement on July 11 last year.

They contended that it is best to let the court decide the outcome of the case for this will serve a valuable lesson to the motor mouth Kedah PAS deputy commissioner to be more careful in his public speeches.

In fact, one netizen reckoned that Sanusi’s apology statement proves that the unity government did not interfere in the court’s affairs but instead the Jeneri state assemblyman was charged for his own wrongdoing against the Selangor ruler.

Another netizen took a swipe at the two-term Kedah MB as to why it took him “more than one year to apologise”.

“Which Japanese girl Sanusi met in Japan has enabled him to return to his senses,” he teased, referring to Sanusi’s much criticised working visit to Japan at a time when Kedah was inundated with floods.

In addition to Sultan Sharafuddin, Sanusi had also apologised to Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Selangorians for his inappropriate remarks.

On July 11 last year, a video of Sanusi’s ceramah that took place in Gombak went viral whereby he allegedly insulted Sultan Sharafuddin by comparing his appointment as Kedah MB to Amirudin’s appointment as the Selangor MB.

On Feb 29, the Jeneri state assemblyman maintained his not guilty plea for two charges of uttering seditious words regarding the Selangor MB’s appointment and the unity government’s formation during the said ceramah.

As one netizen aptly put it, leaving it to the court is the best option for it serves as a lesson for all political leaders “not to indulge in 3R (race, religion and royalty) incitement whether on socmed (social media) or in physical ceramah”.

“One can be sempoi (cool) but never forget one’s moral ground and be knowledgeable,” he advised.

Last but not least, one netizen pointed out the inappropriateness of Sanusi using the “Kedah MB’s letterhead” to apologise given he had insulted the Selangor ruler during the run-up to the six states election last year in his capacity as PAS’ election director.

“This means that he’s dragging all Kedahans along with his foul mouth antic. Didn’t he realise that he’s indirectly insulting the Kedah Sultan by so doing?” wondered the netizen. – Sept 26, 2024
