A VIDEO of a young lad showing off his driving skills on public roads have raised the ire as well as concerns of netizens. The short clip which has been making the rounds on social media shows a Perodua Axia bearing registration plate JNA 9287 being driven at speed by a young boy.
His antics was filmed by a neighbour who stopped the car and admonished the boy not just for his recklessness in driving the car at speed in a residential area but also for bringing his two younger siblings along for the joy ride.
Of course, both siblings (six and three-year-old respectively) were not even wearing the safety belts. It was disaster waiting to happen and the neighbour could be heard saying that she was going to make a police report as these joy rides were a frequent occurrence.
The video posted on the X platform (formerly Twitter) by user Cats for Palestine (@KlutzKuching) has already fetched 585,700 views at the time of writing in addition to having been widely shared.

More than a few netizens quite rightly pointed out that this was the fault of the parents and that the book should be thrown at them for their negligent parenting.
One implied that if an accident were to occur, the child’s parents would probably defend his actions while claiming that he was the “best behaved kid in the neighbourhood”.
With others observing that the daredevil driver was doing this with his parents’ blessings, judging from his retorts.
One called for stiffer punishment for similar cases, including the forfeit of the vehicle and not just punitive fines.
One netizen probably spoke for many when he suggested that the lady who took the video should have driven the young offender straight to the police station and let the parents bail him out.
Much of the fury and disgust, as expected, was directed at the parents for allowing this to happen in the first place.
With another saying that the parents would only take notice when something untoward happens.
The poster summed up the mood best when he suggested that certain people should not be allowed to become parents.
In the meantime, social media awaits with bated breath on the action (if any) that will be taken by the authorities against the errant parents as well as the underaged driver. The video evidence is there as is the car registration number.
