THE number of new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia has been on a steady decline and finally decreased to less than 20,000 at the start of this week, standing at 16,863 on Monday (March 28) with 238 of them being imported cases.
This now brings the country’s total to 4,138,867 since the pandemic began.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 26,171 patients have recovered since within the last 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 3,870,937 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak began.
The nation’s hospitalisation rate is also seeing a steady decline to 60.6%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 56.9% capacity.
Currently, 299 people are being treated in ICUs with a majority of them (187) in need of ventilator support.
Thankfully, the number fatalities have been decreasing significantly, standing at 37 deaths with 6 patients brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 34,751.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country now stands at 233,179, with 97.2% of them (226,656) are being subjected to home quarantine. – March 28, 2022
