New COVID-19 cases in Malaysia stands at 24,241 on Saturday

THE number of new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia registered 24,241 new patients within the last 24 hours, with 521 of them being imported cases.

This now brings the country’s total to 3,920,575 since the pandemic began.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 26,615 patients have recovered since yesterday (March 18), bringing the number to a total of 3,623,068 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

However, the nation’s hospitalisation rate is still high at 66.1%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) reaching 59.7% capacity.

Currently, 383 people are being treated in ICUs with a majority of them (222) in need of ventilator support.

There is still a high number fatalities recorded, standing at 59 deaths with 13 patients brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 34,244.

Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country now stands at 294,366, with 96.7% of them (284,592) are being subjected to home quarantine. – March 19, 2022
