New COVID-19 cases in Malaysia stands at 32,800 on Saturday

THE number of new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia registered 32,800 new patients within the last 24 hours, with 541 of them being imported cases.

This now brings the country’s total to 3,747,611 since the pandemic began.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 24,444 patients have recovered since yesterday (March 11), bringing the number to a total of 3,418,443 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

However, the nation’s hospitalisation rate is still high at 67%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) reaching 58.2% capacity.

Currently, 380 people are being treated in ICUs with a majority of them (231) in need of ventilator support.

There is still an extremely worrying number fatalities recorded, standing at 76 deaths with 21 patients brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 33,643.

Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country now stands at 322,700, with 96.2% of them (310,351) are being subjected to home quarantine. – March 12, 2022
