THE number of new daily COVID-19 cases faced a slight increase during the weekend, registering at 1,372 today (May 8), five of which are imported cases.
This brings the country’s total number of cases to 4,456,736 since the pandemic began.
The number of COVID-19 deaths also remains low, with only three casualties reported within the last 24 hours, none of which were brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 35,579.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 3,610 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 4,397,881 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started.
The number of hospital beds being used around the country have experienced a slight increase to 53.4%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 56% capacity.
Currently, 86 people are being treated in ICUs with a majority of them (46) in need of ventilator support.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country is still on a downward trend, standing at 23,276 with 95.1% of them (22,146) being subjected to home quarantine. – May 8, 2022
