EVEN with bazaars operating on a daily basis, attracting large amounts of crowds gathered in certain areas, the number of new COVID-19 cases are still within the 10,000 mark, standing at 9,673 on Saturday (April 16) with 25 of them being imported cases.
This brings the country’s total number of cases to 4,372,697 since the pandemic began.
The number of COVID-19 deaths, however, have increased slightly to 16 patients with five from that brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 35,397.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 14,267 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 4,224,125 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started.
The number of hospital beds being used around the country has reached 60.8%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 51.1% capacity.
Currently, 152 people are being treated in ICUs with a majority of them (87) in need of ventilator support.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country continues to be on a positive decline, standing at 113,175, with 97.5% of them (110,385) being subjected to home quarantine. – April 16, 2022
