THE number of new daily COVID-19 cases registered at 1,251 today (May 7), with nine of which are imported cases.
This brings the country’s total number of cases to 4,455,364 since the pandemic began.
The number of COVID-19 deaths also remains low, with only seven casualties reported within the last 24 hours, two of which were brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 35,576.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 2,599 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 4,393,689 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started.
The number of hospital beds being used around the country have experienced a slight increase to 53.1%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 54.2% capacity.
Currently, 76 people are being treated in ICUs with a majority of them (39) in need of ventilator support.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country is still on a downward trend, standing at 26,099 with 95.7% of them (24,978) being subjected to home quarantine. – May 7, 2022
