MALAYSIA is still optimistic with its shift towards the endemic phase as it clocks in a total of 14,944 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday (April 9), with 104 of them being imported cases.
This now brings the country’s total to 4,307,529 since the pandemic began.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 14,045 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 4,113,831 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started.
The number of hospital beds being used around the country has reached 59.3%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 54.6% capacity.
Currently, 206 people are being treated in ICUs with a majority of them (109) in need of ventilator support.
The number of fatalities, however, remains somewhat stagnant at 31 deaths with six patients brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 35,259.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country has been on a steady decline, standing at 158,439, with 97.8% of them (158,880) being subjected to home quarantine. – April 9, 2022
