New daily COVID-19 cases dives to 2,579 with Raya around the corner

THE country continues to see a tremendously decreasing number of new COVID-19 cases, with Saturday (April 30) reporting a total of 2,579 cases within the last 24 hours, including only six imported cases.

This brings the country’s total number of cases to 4,445,897 since the pandemic began.

The number of COVID-19 deaths also continues to decrease, with only six casualties reported within the last 24 hours, none of which were brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 35,542.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 6,055 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 4,360,061 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started.

The number of hospital beds being used around the country have also decreased to 56.4%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 52.3% capacity.

Currently, 78 people are being treated in ICUs with most of them (50) in need of ventilator support.

Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country is still on a downward trend, standing at 50,294 with 97.3% of them (48,924) being subjected to home quarantine. – April 30, 2022
