MALAYSIANS have always been very vocal about the violence Israel had inflicted upon Palestinians.
Our voices have been heard very strongly through the massive boycott towards organisations deemed to be linked to Israel.
However, an individual took the limelight recently with his creative protest, placing an Israel-flag-doormat on the busy streets of Kuala Lumpur.
A good many Malaysians could be seen stepping on it or even taking photos while they stood on the flag.

This novel form of protest has since turned viral on X, with over 8,600 reposts and 570 comments.
Netizen @TheFaxMachina said the mat needs to be dirtier while @skuystik said he did not even want to step on it.
“I love my shoes too damn much. It is only natural to not want them to touch shit on the ground,” @skuystik said.
“Coming from Indonesia, BIG W for Malaysian people,” said @admiralkizaruuu in support of the protestors.
“You want more epic? Come to Indonesia!” said @denywidjaja_, hinting that the protests there were of a different level.
Sometimes, hate and disgust cannot be described in words, so netizen @Suryaatmadja20 decided to share a video comment of a dog pooping directly on the flag of Israel.
“It goes beyond stepping on a flag too. When I went to open a bank account in KL every form I signed explained that Israeli money is banned. Imagine if the U.S took that stand?” said @escapeeJT.
Then there was @freflistin_1917 who pointed out an online store selling more doormats with the flag of Israel on it.
But beneath the hate towards Israel, subtle elements of the Jewish state still remain as reminded by netizen @freflistin_1917 who said the shops in Malaysia are still filled with Israel supporter products.
Among them were Nestle, Walls, Unilever, KFC, Mcdonalds, Domino’s, Pizza Hut, and Maggi, he claimed.
The cyberspace is also not without its Jewish supporters:
Netizen @CkKhoo8 added that the flag-stepping behaviour was childish and stupid. “If you really love peace, please take action and join the battlefield,” he said. —Apr 2, 2025
