New MYFutureJobs policy deadline pushed to Jan

THE regulation for companies to advertise job vacancies on MYFutureJobs portal has been extended to Jan 1, 2021.

“We are aware of employers concerns over the need to advertise job vacancies on MYFutureJobs portal and conduct interviews, as a pre-requisite for the employment of foreign workers and trade officers.

“While the move is necessary, we heed requests from various chambers of commerce and industry players to consider automatic approval in hiring trade officers without having to advertise vacancies and only submit labour market information,” the Human Resources Ministry said, in a statement today.

The ministry explained the policy was introduced to prioritise local talent and is a major factor that will contribute to the transformation of the nation’s labour market.

“Since the announcement was made, the ministry has received various feedback from employers, which include requests for exemption from advertising and interview conditions for EP1 Category Merchants including key positions and contract renewal,” it noted.

Last month, its minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan announced employers who wish to hire foreign workers, through the rehiring programme as well as recruitment of expatriates, will be required to advertise the vacancies first on MYFutureJobs, effective Nov 1.

Addressing employers’ concerns, the ministry stressed: “We will work with the relevant ministries to discuss the conditions for automatic approval and improve mechanism for its implementation.

“Guidelines generated from this engagement session will be presented for feedback from chambers of commerce and industry players before being implemented.” – Nov 10, 2020
