New tactics to combat COVID-19 urgently needed, cases rising 2,000+

IT IS about time the Government tightened its measures to fight against COVID-19 infections since vaccination is going too slowly to the point that the number of new cases are significantly back up again.

Within the last 24 hours, the country recorded a total of 2,148 new cases, with 10 deaths adding to the total of 1,363.

In his daily COVID-19 updates, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said those who died were aged between 54 and 97, with all but one being Malaysians.

Meanwhile, the number of patients being discharged does not compensate for the fast rate of infections, as there were only 1,259 recoveries recorded (total 349,039).

Out of the current active cases of 17,525, 212 patients are in intensive care units and 82 require ventilator support. – April 15, 2021
