AGAINST the backdrop of the looming state polls, PAS has been told to hand over its accomplishment report card for the three states it previously ruled instead of just bragging about their mere development and well-being.
DAP vice-chairman Nga Kor Ming noted that states previously led by Pakatan Harapan (PH), namely Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Penang, had submitted their report cards following the dissolution of their respective state assemblies.
As such, he questioned the form of development that has been undertaken by PAS in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu in comparison to the encouraging performance in the states previously led by Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“Today, I ask that the states ruled by a religious party produce their report card,” Nga requested after launching the Royal Town Planning and Development Guidelines (GPP) at Putrajaya today.
“What are your achievements so far? 32 years under PAS leadership (referring to Kelantan), yet you can’t even solve the clean water supply issues.”
The Local Government Development Minister further ridiculed the incumbent Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah’s argument that the state was not “under-developed” as critics claimed just because the state had an Aeon Mall located in Kota Bharu.
“Was the Aeon Mall built by the state government or private investors? I think the allegation is unacceptable and it is not the state government’s effort but the investor’s,” stressed Teluk Intan MP.
“I wonder why the shopping center is considered a development landmark and it is something that cannot be accepted as proof of development. Hence, a report card is required for the people to evaluate the state government.”
For the uninitiated, Kelantan has been plagued by water-related problems for decades with no solution appearing in sight.
However, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had on June 18 made an effort to alleviate water woes of Kelantanese by announcing an additional RM500 mil allocation following discussions between the Putrajaya and Kelantan state governments.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had previously announced that the government was providing a RM1 bil allocation to Kelantan to overcome the state’s water supply problems beginning this year.
