Nga under fire as Rasuah Busters eyes MyKiosk project

PERLIS Rasuah Busters, through Dr Nor Halmey Hamdah, has called for careful handling of corruption and transparency allegations in the MyKiosk 2.0 project to rebuild public trust.

He cited issues like non-transparent contractor appointments and monopolies as risks for abuse.

Rasuah Busters recommended open tenders, independent audits, and public cost reports. Nor Halmey urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate without public sensationalism, proposing a monitoring committee to ensure kiosk quality in durability, security, and user-friendliness.

On the other hand, MACC’s Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed receiving MyKiosk documents and pledged to probe further if corruption evidence emerges.

Meanwhile, MCA Youth chief Ling Tian Soon demanded an apology from Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming for politicising the MyKiosk issue and making baseless allegations against MCA.

Ling expressed regret over Nga’s claim that MCA was trying to sow discord among the public by raising MyKiosk concerns.

He emphasised that MCA responsibly voices public issues for authorities’ attention, noting, “MCA leaders often raise questions, and other ministries respond with data and facts, but not Nga.”

Ling also criticised Nga’s “uncouth language” and accusations that MCA aims to join Perikatan Nasional, calling them inappropriate for a Cabinet minister.

Nga claimed that certain groups were deliberately politicising the MyKiosk project in an effort to destabilise the Madani government.

He sees their tactic as an effort to tarnish the government’s image so that MCA will leave and join Perikatan Nasional. — May 24, 2025
