IT is business as usual at the Dewan Rakyat with the much awaited voting on Budget 2021 to go on as planned tomorrow (Nov 26).
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan today quashed speculations that the voting process of next year’s supply bill might be delayed to next Monday (Nov 30).
Mainstream The Star online paper, citing a well-placed source, reported earlier today that voting on Budget 2021 which was initially scheduled for tomorrow is likely to be delayed to next Monday.
However, the source quantified that his ministry has yet to receive any official notification from Parliament on the matter.
Budget 2021 was originally scheduled to see a vote on November 23, but was postponed to November 25, with the latest set for tomorrow.
News portal The Vibes reasoned that the rumours pertaining to postponement of the voting process stemmed from the fact that many ministries and lawmakers have yet to participate in the budget debate due to shorter sitting hours in light of COVID-19.
“However, today’s session was extended from 2pm to 3pm, and The Vibes understands that a prolonged sitting tomorrow will only be determined later,” added the news portal. – Nov 25, 2020
