THERE are no issues with holding Hari Raya Aidilfitri open houses in PAS-led states, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“There are a lot of states, all will have open houses, including Selangor,” Anwar was quoted as saying to reporters after Friday prayers at the As-Salam mosque in Sri Manja.
Earlier today, Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari had sarcastically thanked the government for its decision to hold Aidilfitri open houses in the PAS-controlled states of Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
Taking to Facebook, Ahmad said this was because of the upcoming state elections which will be held soon.
On Thursday (April 20) the Prime Minister Department (JPM) had announced that the annual Aidilfitri open house will not be held at the prime minister’s official residence at Kompleks Seri Perdana in Putrajaya this year.
In a statement, JPM said the Malaysia MADANI open house, organised by JPM through the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) as the main coordinator, will be held in Kedah on April 29, Kelantan on May 12 and Terengganu on May 13.
JPM said the programme will be implemented with the cooperation of the respective state government as host and assistance of a ministry appointed as the lead ministry.
“The prime minister will be attending the programme as the main guest to join people from all walks of life at the event. Menteri Besar or Chief Ministers will also be invited, apart from federal ministers,” it announced. – April 21, 2023
