No solution in sight although MP descends to ground level to highlight deplorable condition of Port Klang road

NOWADAYS, what does it take to repair the road in Malaysia? Perhaps not even when an MP comes down to the very road to point out all the potholes as an alternative to filing a complaint on the cyberspace.

Here in a video post on X by netizen JalalMisai, Port Klang MP Azmizam Bin Zaman Huri could be seen riding a motorcycle as he investigated the road condition around the Port Klang area.

According to him, several motorcyclists have already been killed in accidents involving the many potholes littering the road. He further requested the director general of Malaysian Public Works Department (JKR) to repair these roads soonest, laying the blame of further deaths on his shoulder.

“The director general of JKR should resign. You are not fit to be the director general of JKR. You see this. All the holes. You are the reason behind these deaths,” he said.

In one of the scenes, Azmizam demonstrated the depth of the potholes, adding that these are hard to notice during the heavy rain when they are filled with water.

“There are already people dead from avoiding the holes, and people dead from colliding with the holes,” he said.

Azmizam said appropriately, work could have been done on Sunday where there are less vehicles on the road.

However, quite a number of netizens pointed out that repairs are only a temporary solution to the problem.

“But the problem is that today the pavement is paved tomorrow, the hole will be back. One day, hundreds of heavy lorries will past through. JKR has to find a solution to make the road last,” said Nun!

One netizen inquired if it was possible to change the road from tar to concreate on whatever long-lasting material.

“The road around Klang won’t last long when tarred, more so during the raining season. Just awhile and they begin to wrinkle here and there,” he said.

Another netizen sarcastically said that in Malaysia, the only good roads are the ones nearby the JKR office.

Call me Hardin added that this problem will be settled once a member of the VVIP or their relations were killed. Either that or if the royal family is passing through.

It remains to be seen whether action will be taken after this heated video complaint on the cyberspace.

Regardless, as pointed out by fellow netizens, effective effort is equally important.—Dec 6, 2024
