Now, Home Minister contracts COVID-19! Najib calls for Cabinet to quarantine

IT looks like COVID-19 virus is going after Cabinet ministers now!

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin has become the third victim of the coronavirus after Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed and Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun.

In a statement, the Home Ministry said Hamzah was informed of his test result early today, adding it had urged the latter’s close contacts from Jan 8 to 11 to get screened for COVID-19.

“However, Hamzah will continue to monitor and ensure the ministry’s functions run as usual during quarantine and treatment.

“The minister also apologised to everyone for any inconvenience caused,” noted the statemen

On related matter, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak called for Cabinet members to quarantine themselves following the recent turn of events.

“A Cabinet meeting was held in the morning of Jan 6. Subsequently, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) held a meeting on the night of Jan 7.

“The incubation period for COVID-19 is between 10 and 14 days. It means those who attended both meetings should be quarantined until Jan 17 as three of the attendees have tested positive,” he pointed out.

Najib added the Health Ministry should ensure those who attended the meetings are barred from holding any public events or other meetings.

“Make sure there are no double standards. Let’s not create a Cabinet cluster!” added the Pekan MP. – Jan 12, 2021.
