IT would be an unfortunate day for employees of Malaysia Airports throughout the nation if Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir resigns as chairman of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), said Malaysia Airports Workers Union (Kesma) chief Hussin Shahar.
“Dr Zambry has been a pillar of strength for over 10,000 MAHB employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he is the one that everybody turned to for leadership and guidance when the aviation industry is in shambles,” Hussin told FocusM.

“His attentiveness to the welfare of his employees empowered us to work harder to maintain the sustainability of the company,” he went on.
Hussin’s response comes amid speculations that more Umno leaders appointed as heads and board members of government-linked companies (GLC) are set to relinquish their positions in the coming days.
This followed news of Umno recently withdrawing its support for the Perikatan Nasional-led Government and for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the prime minister.
In the same vein, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has also urged its ministers and deputy ministers to resign from their posts to show loyalty to the party.
Zambry is a member of the Umno supreme council and the Barisan Nasional secretary-general.
In his urging for Zambry to reconsider his resignation, Hussin also added that KESMA is further banking on experienced individuals like him and group CEO Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh to take MAHB to greater heights.
“This is not the time for Zambry to relinquish his position as chairman of MAHB as this would affect the morale of the employees.
“He should at least hold on until the country’s situation improves, and until he is confident that MAHB would be able to stand strong once again without relying on anyone for assistance while further making sure also that the welfare of all MAHB employees are well taken care of,” he remarked – Aug 9, 2021
