“Now PAS member Annuar Musa is a MP material on par with Zahid, not suited for Kelantan State Assembly”

FORMER UMNO warlord Tan Sri Annuar Musa who recently crossed to the ‘green side’ following his sacking after more than 40 years in the party not only found himself “in different camp” with his son Afiq Amani Annuar who is currently the Ketereh UMNO Youth chief.

Seemingly pro-UMNO keyboard warriors have taken a pot shot at him after he posted a photo of him donning the new Manchester United away jersey with a catchy teaser caption to undermine his former party: “Thank you, Manchester United (ManU) … Then red, now GREEN”.

Netizen Danny Lang Bantan expressed sympathy that the PAS member who is also the Muafakat Nasional chairman “has been manipulated (by PAS)” while Hafiz Nafiah likened the green jersey to “the green t-shirt worn by ball boys at a football field”.

“Such is the level of a (party) follower,” the netizen poked fun at the former Ketereh MP while Addy Addyrazali hit out at Annuar for his over-obsession till the need to politicise a football club.

“Manchester United lost recently wearing that jersey,” reminded Muhamad Fikri.

Netizen Zol Hashim further rubbed salt into the wound by describing Annuar as someone “who doesn’t have life principles”. “He forgot that he became rich through UMNO. Unravel his misbehaviour when he was a UMNO minister so that he realises if the sky is high or low!” berated the netizen.

This was when Zamri Isa came to the rescue of the former communications and multimedia minister who explained why he was not named as a PAS candidate for the upcoming six state polls.

“TS Annuar (TSAM) is a political figure at the national level. He has been a cabinet minister three times under the administration of three different PMs (prime ministers),” rationalised Zamri. “The current election is at the state level. It is unreasonable that PAS wants to put TSAM back at the state level and contest for a state assembly seat”.

After all, competition at the Kelantan state level is not intense with PAS being able to win easily.

“If TSAM contests there, it will harm PAS and himself. Politics at the national level is expected to be more challenging in the future. It will not end with the present state polls,” opined Zamri. “The time for TSAM will come. Wait and see. Politics is both an art and a chess game.”

More broadly, Zamri reckoned that Annuar’s standard is “at least facing Zahid (UMNO president Tan Sri Zahid Hamidi) in Parliament”.

“I don’t wish to see him debating in the Kelantan State Assembly. If PAS is destined to win all the seats in Kelantan, it is as if debating among themselves in the state assembly. In a football match against a weaker team, the stronger team will likely drop its key players,” justified the netizen.

“Don’t be like (UMNO supreme council member) Datuk Dr Puad Zarkashi. Not nominated at the parliamentary level, he ran amok and threatened the party to become an independent candidate. Then when the Johor state poll happened, he swept the state assembly (by becoming its speaker). No class …” – July 30, 2023
