AIR Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) announced that a total of 463 areas in the Klang Valley area will face water disruption following the shutdown of Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (Sg Semenyih WTP).
“We detected odour pollution at Sungai Semenyih. Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS) is now working with Air Selangor to identify the source of the raw water pollution along Sungai Semenyih and its tributaries.
“Unfortunately, the shutdown will affect water supply in in five Air Selangor regions, namely Petaling (172 areas), Hulu Langat (54 areas), Sepang (194 areas), Putrajaya (23 areas) and Kuala Langat (20 areas),” it said, in a statement.
With that said, Air Selangor had activated its Emergency Response Plan (ERP) to provide emergency water supply assistance to affected users.
A total of 81 water tankers will be mobilised to the affected areas and critical premises, it added.
“Air Selangor is making all efforts to minimise the impact of disruption to affected consumers and provide updates from time to time through all mediums, especially the mass media,” it stated.
