Optimax to receive ‘nominal fees’ from mobile vaccination programme

OPTIMAX Holdings Bhd, an eye specialist service provider, has found a new revenue stream following its absorbent into the Mobile Vaccination Programme (MVP) initiative by the Ministry of Federal Territories.

The MVP is a new concept involving mobile vaccination that targets, among others, residents under the Projek Perumahan Rakyat and Perumahan Awam as well as workers of essential services companies found within designated areas of the Federal Territories of Malaysia.

“We are proud to be able to play a part in the effort by Ministry of Federal Territories to accelerate the mainstream vaccination under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme,” commented Optimax CEO Sandy Tan.

“The MVP has given us a platform to utilise our resources to provide an alternative way for people to get vaccinated while also providing mobile vaccination services to some employers.”

The Federal Territories Ministry is hoping to achieve herd community among city dwellers earlier by targeting more than 80% or about two million of the population in the Federal Territories, especially in Kuala Lumpur, to complete the COVID-19 vaccination.

Optimax is a recognised ambulatory care centre partner (Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Ipoh and Seremban branches) and a private hospital partner (Penang branch) with ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd which is established under the Health Ministry (MOH) to act as COVID-19 vaccination centres under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).

Additionally, Optimax is also participating in another pilot project initiated by ProtectHealth in collaboration with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to undertake the Public-Private Partnership COVID-​19 Industry Immunisation Programme (PIKAS) to complement the Government’s PICK Program to accelerate the immunisation of the public.

“The company is expected to receive a nominal fee of RM45 to RM50 per dose per person to help defray its costs to mobilise its’ resources under the MVP and PIKAS,” projected Tan.

“All vaccines are sourced from and supplied directly by the Government. The company does not get to select the type of vaccines to be administered to the public but is happy to report that in just over a month from the commencement of its participation in the Government’s PICK Programme in May 2021, Optimax has already administered close to 50,000 COVID-19 doses to people of all walks of life.”

At the close of this morning’s trading session, Optimax was up 1 sen or 0.69% to RM1.45 with 163,400 shares traded. – June 25, 2021
