Padang Serai MP charged over alleged cattle feedlot bribery case

PN’s Padang Serai MP Azman Nasrudinand a businessman will be hauled to the Sessions Court tomorrow to face corruption charges linked to a cattle feedlot project under the previous Kedah state government.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the duo were summoned after investigations revealed alleged bribery involving land-use rights.

Azman, 57, will be charged with abetment under Section 28(1)(c) of the MACC Act 2009, while the businessman faces charges under Section 16(a)(A) for soliciting and accepting bribes.

Azman was arrested last Friday in Kedah and later released on MACC bail. Sources said he allegedly received around RM400,000 to facilitate the project.

The case stemmed from a complaint lodged on 10 February, with statements recorded from 15 witnesses.

In a social media post, Azman slammed the charges as “selective prosecution” and political retaliation after he criticised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over a separate graft case involving Anwar’s former aide.

He claimed the move was aimed at tarnishing PN leaders’ reputations. —Dec 7, 2025
