Paragon Globe head honcho recognised as Rising Star at PropertyGuru Asia Awards M’sia 2026

MAIN Market-listed Paragon Globe Bhd’s (PGB) executive chairman Datuk Seri Edwin Tan Pei Seng has been conferred the Rising Star award at the 13th PropertyGuru Asia Awards Malaysia with iProperty in recognition of his emerging leadership and contribution to Malaysia’s real estate sector.

The award was presented under the Portal’s Choice Awards segment at a gala dinner held on Oct 2 at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur.

Themed Defined by Excellence, the 2026 award edition recognised achievements across 62 categories spanning developers, developments, design, individuals and other real estate segments.

The Rising Star recognition is intended to honour emerging real estate talent demonstrating innovation, dedication, notable achievements and the potential to contribute to the industry’s future.

Tan described the recognition as “particularly significant” given his roots in Johor and the current growth taking place in the state.

“As a Johorean, receiving this award at such an exciting time for Johor real estate makes it especially meaningful,” he enthused.

“For PGB, our mission is simple: find the right opportunities, bring the right people together, and most importantly, execute.”

Tan began his property career 22 years ago after returning to Johor following his university studies in Australia by joining his father’s company, Joland Group, and starting at an executive level.

‘Journey is about teamwork’

In 2017, he took on a larger role in shaping the future of the listed company that is today together with his brother Datuk Seri Godwin Tan Pei Poh.

The group subsequently strengthened its focus on property development, construction and investments with Johor becoming central to its growth strategy.

PGB is today developing a broader portfolio across industrial, commercial, residential and income-generating property assets.

Among its recent initiatives is the PGB-GSP AutoPark in Iskandar Puteri, an automotive-focused industrial ecosystem anchored by GSP Automotive Malaysia. The collaboration was announced in March 2026 and progressed to groundbreaking in June 2026.

The group is also expanding its longer-term pipeline in Sedenak, where it has proposed further land acquisitions for a preliminary industrial development concept with an estimated gross development value of RM1.69 billion, subject to the relevant acquisition, legal, regulatory and development processes.

These initiatives form part of PGB’s wider approach of looking beyond individual projects and considering how anchor occupiers, businesses, infrastructure, housing and supporting services can develop around strategic locations.

“This journey has never been about one person. I’m grateful to my family, my brother Godwin, our business partners and the entire PGB team who have been part of it,” recounted Tan.

“After more than 20 years in this business, I’m still hungry to learn, to grow and to do more. For PGB, for Johor and for what comes next, we’re just getting started.”

The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards series was established in 2005 with the Malaysia edition launched in 2014. It has since grown into a regional platform recognising achievements across the property sector.

At the close of today’s market trading, PGB was unchanged at 74 sen with 5,000 shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM553 mil. – Oct 6, 2026
