PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur captivates post-pandemic

THE way to people’s hearts is through their stomach. In opening its doors to the public post-pandemic, it was a momentous first for Pan Pacific Hotels Group as it expanded the PARKROYAL COLLECTION brand to Malaysia.

PARKROYAL COLLECTION – owned and managed by a reputable hotel operator Pan Pacific Hotels Group – also launched its culinary theatre concept to cater to city dwellers on the lookout for all-day (and night) dining.

“We call this our culinary theatre where there’s a whole selection of cuisine. The whole concept is to turn this into a whole foodie melting pot,” says Christian Nannucci, Complex General Manager of PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur.

Banking on a selection of authentic local recipes (Malay, Chinese and Indian) given Malaysia’s rich culinary scene, there is also the seafood promotion which Nannucci says is very succulent, accompanied by a Japanese and Western section.

Three innovative food and beverage venues promise an exciting addition to the dynamic local gastronomic landscape.

Thyme is a culinary theatre with live cooking stations, serving a sumptuous selection of local and western cuisine sustainably sourced.

The Botanist Lounge and Bar meanwhile celebrates Malaysian fauna diversity in its design along with innovative drinks with a focus on local ingredients, while Skye Chill celebrates a serene space of well-being by day and a relaxing terrace lounge by night.

Comparing Malaysia with Italy where he hails from, he finds Malaysia truly dynamic in the sense that people here are constantly reinventing themselves, with new culinary offerings coming up every so often just like the Italians.

“We like to think of our culinary theatre as different from the traditional (hotel) food offerings as we are bringing in the local cuisine to the people,” he tells FocusM.

Nannucci wants to ensure that the basic concepts are well-established and received by the local market in terms of the tastes, recipes and the cuisines.

Acknowledging that the hotel is starting from zero after the pandemic stage, he anticipates a gradual recovery in the endemic stage even as booking of the family suites are picking up.

As is the case in Italy, he foresees the gradual recovery as a plus point as the borders have opened up with the food & beverage (F&B) as well as hospitality sectors anticipated to pick up once more.

Another key highlight is the very apparent emphasis given to the greenery and sustainability agenda banking on an eco-wellness concept enhanced by luxurious design. This is aimed not only towards the environment but also towards adding value to the local community.

PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur comprises 527 rooms and suites, a roof terrace greenery that is made up of 13,000 sq ft of lush plants, and a vertical garden façade with sky planters. It prides itself as being a welcome hideaway in a world of biophilia nestled among city skyscrapers.

Guests can immerse themselves further in relaxation and nature with the in-house wellness facilities, comprising the St Gregory spa, a modern gymnasium, a fitness studio, as well as a resort-like swimming pool surrounded by lush greenery.

Beneath its biophilic design, the hotel features environmentally conscious operations including sustainable bathroom amenities, bio-degradable packaging, filtered drinking water solution in every guestroom, and a food-waste management system.

With 1,664 sqm of versatile meeting and event spaces, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur is the destination of choice for inspiring events and celebrations.

Experienced Celebration Curators and culinary teams remain ready to execute each event to precise detail, with epicurean menus, chic decor and refined settings ensuring every celebration is truly memorable.

PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur is poised to be the new eco-chic icon and social hub of the city, providing a refreshing green surrounding for guests to reconnect with nature, the community, and themselves.

This is as the hotel looks forward to delivering inspiring experiences, memorable stays and heartfelt celebrations.

“Now that we are moving from pandemic to endemic stage, to us, it is a bit more of a watch-and-see situation,” comments Nannuci who believes that now is the right time for the hotel to open its doors as he affirms that occupancy in KL will gradually increase.

Stating that he is adopting a gradual start-up approach starting from zero by starting slowly, he says that reservations – especially the family suites – are picking up due to the opening offer where there’s a whole package of 25% discount on the published rates, complimentary drinks, and dining discounts across the hotel’s restaurants and bars, with added benefits for Discovery loyalty memberships. – July 14, 2022
