HYPOCRISY is perhaps the best word to describe how jubilant PAS is to claim victory in opposing the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. In)-centric Thai Hot Guy event in the Federal capital while Kelantan which is touted as the party’s powerbase is seeing an escalating trend of incest, molest and rape cases.
For context, Selangor PAS has congratulated the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for the decisiveness shown by Wangsa Maju District Police Chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah which led to the cancellation of the Thai Hot Guy event and an apology from the owner of the night club in Jalan Tun Razak which was supposedly venue of the event slated for March 30.
“On Wednesday (March 22), PAS MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari revealed the promotion of the Thai Hot Guy event in the Dewan Rakyat followed by a media statement by PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan who urged the government to take strict action against the immoral activity which coincided with the month Ramadan Mubarak,” the party’s Selangor state commissioner Datuk Dr Mohd Yunus Hairi told HarakahDaily.
“However, the reply of the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong) in the Dewan Rakyat was very disappointing even though a total of 60 police reports had been made.”
For the record, Kumbong who is in-charge of the Sabah, Sarawak and special affairs portfolio has clarified the event has nothing to do with the Malaysia Madani agenda.
Added Yunus: “PAS Selangor invites all parties, including religious representatives, to work together to curb the spread of this perverse LGBT thinking from continuing to damage the culture, values and idealism of the new generation in the quest to build a cleaner and more prosperous Selangor State.”
Interestingly, while it is overzealously championing an anti-LGBT agenda which ironically does not contain any violence or criminal elements, PAS has seemingly forgotten to look after its backyard with the Kelantan state police at odds with the rising trend of sexual crime that encompasses sexual harassment, rape, sodomy and incest.
As recently as March 16, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan revealed that Kelantan has one of the highest numbers of sexual crime cases in the country with majority of the sexual crimes over the past few years being rape cases.
“Some 80% of the sexual crimes reported in Kelantan involved children,” Jalil said after launching Kelantan police’s Children’s Interview Centre (CIC) in Kemumin, Kota Bahru.
Asked about the higher number of sexual crimes involving children compared with adults in Kelantan, Jalil said the lack of attention by parents towards their children could be a contributing factor.
“Many children nowadays are exposed to pornography and other immoral activities. Their parents do not have time to monitor their behaviour,” he observed. “This has caused many children to easily be influenced and involved in sexual activities and incest.”
All-in-all, Jalil said 12,890 cases of various types of crime were recorded by Bukit Aman’s sexual, women and child investigation division (D11) unit nationwide last year compared to 13,327 reports in the previous year. “Besides rape, other crimes include child abuse and abandoned babies,” he added. – March 24, 2023
