PAS ‘educates’ Kit Siang why Malay-Belt states of Kedah, Kelantan & Terengganu are so backward

PAS has taken the trouble to enlighten retired DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang as to why Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah are three states with the slowest development rate in Malaysia over the past three decades since 1991.

Contrary to the veteran lawmaker’s perception that these states were duped by robbers who give and accept bribes”, the Islamist party which also controls the three states attributed such outcome to discrimination by the Federal government.

“There have previously been allocation constraints to Malay majority states by Barisan Nasional (BN) which in the past was opposed by Kit Siang but now has become a close friend,” claimed Terengganu PAS information chief Muhammad Irsyad Syafiq on the state youth wing’s Facebook page.

“In the end, what BN did before seem to be repeated by Pakatan Harapan (PH) led by the 10th Prime Minister (PMX) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is a good friend of Kit Siang.”

According to Irsyad, the situation was so bad till Terengganu’s Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar had to speak politely in front of Anwar at the Terengganu’s series of the Madani Malaysia Aidilfitri Open House yesterday (May 14) to convey the hope that the Federal government will channel the state’s royalty payment according to schedule.

“Normally, money from the Federal Government’s Special Fund (DKKP) will be distributed in March and September but unfortunately, until now in May, nothing has been disbursed,” he revealed.

“Does Kit Siang’s best friend, PMX, want to repeat what BN did (in the past)? If the answer is ‘yes’, then the answer to Kit Siang’s question is the discrimination of leaders at the Federal level.”

As such, Irsyad called on Kit Siang – if he is truly concerned about the fate of Malay-Belt states – to advise Anwar “to immediately disburse the proprietary rights of the people of Terengganu”.

“Don’t just defend PH states. Also look at other opposition states. Respect the choice of the people who did not vote for PH and BN, then only do you deserve to be called a statesman.” – May 15, 2023
